For Wear OS 3 devices, in order for notifications to work properly, please make sure all of the requirements listed below have been met:
-
Make sure your device's battery has power and your device is connected properly to the app:
- Go to the companion app → Tap on the watch icon at the upper right corner → Make sure the current watch is active.
- Your app must be running in the background for notifications to properly work.
-
Your watch is up-to-date:
- Swipe down from the top of your watch screen.
- Tap Settings, then tap System at the bottom of the menu.
- Tap About, then tap System Updates. If your system is not up-to-date, it will prompt you to download the latest software build at this time.
-
Open the companion app on your phone → Tap on the in-app watch face → Tap on the Gear icon on the top right corner to access My Preferences → Notifications → Make sure that all of the apps that you choose to receive notifications on your watch are enabled.
- For iOS users: You may not be able to view all apps' notification switches (just yet) right after onboarding. Only after notifications of an app are received for the first time (while the device is connected to the companion app), you shall then navigate to the notification section to enable/disable it.
- On your watch, from the Home screen, swipe down and make sure Do Not Disturb is disabled.
For iPhone users:
-
On your phone, go to Settings → Notifications → Messages/ Mail/ Phone/ Apps that your watch fails to give you alerts for:
- Make sure to enable the Notification Center and Banners.
- Under Lock Screen Appearance → Set Show Previews to Always or When Unlocked.
- On your phone, go to Settings → Contacts → Short Name → Toggle off Prefer Nicknames.
- Go to Settings on your phone → Bluetooth → Tap the ⌽ icon next to the name of your watch → Turn on Share System Notifications.
